Meet Jared Sossin

Therapist In Training Mental Health Counseling Candidate

Jared Sossin is a Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling candidate at Wake Forest University. He has a B.A. with Honors in Psychology and Political Science from Wake Forest University.

Jared’s previous career as an award-winning meditation teacher and co-founder of a neurofeedback bioware startup informs his appreciation for mindfulness and evidence-based practice. Now, as a psychotherapist first, Jared’s mission is to empower clients to draw upon internal resources to adjust to difficult circumstances and improve psychological flexibility. Jared strongly believes that trust and vulnerability are essential to productive therapy, and that patience is key to cultivate those experiences. His approach is warm, empathetic, curious, and humorous. Jared’s clinical work draws from evidence-based modalities like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Existential Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Jared has completed specialized training in the trauma intervention Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and in Tabletop Role Playing Therapy (TTRPT) – a creative-arts / psychodrama therapy.

His areas of clinical interest include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, and identity exploration for young adults and LGBTQIA populations, group work, and career changes. Jared also conducts and has presented research on the impact of technology on mental health. Specifically relating to electronic screen overuse/addiction and virtual reality therapy.
