Meet Meghan Shank, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Meghan Shank is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides treatment options for adults with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, with a particular focus on mood and anxiety disorders. Her warm, empathetic, and relatable approach to patients is particularly effective for those undergoing the challenges associated with life transitions including career, location, relationship, parenting, and health-related changes. She also provides solutions for individuals who have suffered physical, emotional, or military-related trauma.

Meghan considers a patient’s medical and psychiatric history, personal values, and mental health goals when devising a comprehensive treatment plan. Her treatment plans encompass a variety of modalities with a special focus on interdependent psycho-social and lifestyle choices such as diet, exercise, and  sleep habits to achieve optimal and sustainable outcomes. When medication is warranted, she utilizes an evidence-based approach to prescribe the minimum effective dose with the most favorable side effect profile to help patients achieve the best quality of life.

Meghan earned her BSN from Villanova University and MSN from the University of Missouri Kansas City, where she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She has a special interest in empowering clients with the knowledge and tools needed to optimize their overall health and has additional training in Lifestyle Medicine. Prior to joining The Midtown Practice, Meghan gained extensive experience in a variety of medical and psychiatric settings while serving in the United States Navy, with adult inpatient and outpatient clients at Sheppard Pratt; one of the top ten psychiatric hospitals in the country, and most recently in the private practice setting.
