Cliff Sobel

Cliff became a therapist after a long and successful professional life in business. As a CEO and entrepreneur, he witnessed the power of unconditional positive regard and appreciation of others, which brought out the best in his colleagues and employees. During his tenure in business, he easily gained the trust of his coworkers and became a confidant to employees and clients. This moved him to pursue a Mental Health Counseling Degree at Pace University, which he is expected to complete in the summer of 2025.

Cliff brings a unique set of skills to his role as a therapist. Previously, he found and ran an e-learning company that he grew and sold. He built a livestream network and designed a digital sales aid that became an internationally leading program in the printing industry. In addition to his studies at Pace, he works as a Research Assistant at Project Healthy Minds, a nonprofit geared towards eliminating mental health stigma in Fortune 500 companies. Additionally, he serves on the Corporate Advisory Council at Bloomberg University’s Institute for Interactive Technologies and on the board of directors of the Harry Chapin Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the musician’s legacy.

Throughout his life, Cliff observed that his key to success was developing strong relationships with friends, family, clients and colleagues. This has become the foundation of his therapeutic approach: to create a solid therapeutic alliance for his clients to make positive changes. His therapeutic style is eclectic and tailored to each client. Utilizing a combination of psychodynamic therapy, existentialism, and several cognitive-behavioral approaches, he meets each client where they are and customizes the work according to their goals. This collaborative partnership becomes the bedrock for clients to lead happier, fulfilling, and more productive lives.

Both personally and professionally, Cliff has a passion for photography. He has developed a workshop on the intersection of photography and psychology —“Psytography” — that he teaches to graduate students and others.
