Dan Goodman, MD

Founder & Psychiatrist
Dan Goodman, MD

Meet Dr. Dan Goodman, a psychiatrist based in NYC. Dan believes deeply in the importance of working collaboratively with his clients in a warm, down-to-earth, and practical manner. An enthusiastic follower of the latest research in both biology and psychology, Dan is excited by the potential for science and technology to improve peoples’ lives.

Dan graduated from Yale College, summa cum laude, after which he attended the University of Cambridge as a Churchill Scholar. He then received his MD from Harvard Medical School and completed residency training in psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he continues to serve on the faculty and, for many years, has been a highly-rated teacher. After developing an interest in entrepreneurship, Dan later earned an MBA from Columbia Business School.

In his more than two decades of practice as a psychiatrist, Dan has seen how treatment is most effective when it builds upon a strong therapeutic relationship. He draws inspiration from many different perspectives.

He has extensive training in a range of psychotherapies, including Supportive Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), having studied privately with or attended ACT workshops led by Drs. Steven Hayes, Kelly Wilson, and Jason Luoma, among others. Dan is also an expert psychopharmacologist.

Dan’s interest in translating science into better treatments also motivated him to found three biotechnology companies which, collectively, raised more than $80M in private capital. Given his entrepreneurial experiences, at times some of Dan’s clients enjoy working with him in a manner that is more akin to executive coaching than to traditional psychotherapy. He deeply appreciates the opportunity to work flexibly and in a highly customized manner with his clients in the service of whatever is most meaningful to them.
