Rena Semertzidis, LMSW, is a skilled clinical therapist. Her goal is to provide evidence-based treatment to assist clients in the development of personal tools to manage emotions and thoughts, resolve conflict, navigate transitions and major life changes, heal trauma and address common problems.
Rena completed her graduate studies in clinical social work at Hunter College, specializing in psychotherapy. She is formally DBT trained and certified, and has worked in a variety of rigorous and diverse clinical settings including New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell, Payne Whitney Psychiatric Department.

Rena specializes in several clinical techniques, including Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioral-Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches in both individual and group psychotherapies. Her focus is on helping people who struggle with depression, anxiety, anger issues, interpersonal problems, addictions, marital/relationship issues, and trauma. She treats each client based on an individualized approach, utilizing techniques and treatment modalities that best suit the person’s needs. Rena is also passionate about “whole health” person-centered approaches to care that support multidimensional aspects of health/well-being that are important to each individual. With an appreciation for the interaction between mental and physical health, she seeks to facilitate effective and meaningful cognitive and behavioral change across multiple life domains. Most importantly, she aims to nurture hope in the individual’s ability to live their best life.
