Therapist Shira Lee believes that there is no one-size-fits-all therapeutic approach and therefore works with her clients to find the approach that best suits his/her needs. Shira Lee helps clients work through life’s difficulties, achieve success, and feel validated and understood. Shira Lee’s style is warm and empathetic, and she always strives to be an active and engaged collaborator with her clients.

Shira Lee earned a master’s degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and a B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University. Shira Lee provides psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families, with much of her work focusing on the young adult (20’s-30’s) population. She works with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, panic, relationship issues, family conflict, grief and bereavement, trauma, and career challenges. She works from evidence-based, relational, and psychodynamic perspectives and believes that the therapeutic alliance, the bond and trust between client and therapist, is at the crux of achieving positive change.

Shira Lee has completed extensive training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and has witnessed firsthand that every client, no matter his/her struggle, can benefit from this approach. One of the main goals of ACT is to help a client live a richer and more meaningful life. Additionally, Shira Lee is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), meditation and mindfulness, and grief and bereavement interventions.

Shira Lee also has experience facilitating group psychotherapy. As she is particularly interested in the interconnectedness of mind and body, she has led a Self-Care & Wellness group. Additionally, she has facilitated a Coping with Loss group designed for those learning to cope with grief, loss, and bereavement.
